One postdoctoral position in Computational Chemistry/Materials Science is available in the group of Dr. Ralf Tonner at the Department of Chemistry and Materials Sciences Centre (WZMW) of the Philipps-Universität Marburg/Germany.
The position is available at the next possible date and runs for one year with a possible extension to two years.

The project proposed deals with

„Modelling of interactions between semiconductor surfaces and organic adsorbates“.

It will focus on the application of ab initio molecular dynamics methods to the question of surface adsorption, diffusion and reactivity of small molecules on semiconductor surfaces. This will involve molecular dynamics simulations and first principle investigations of molecular and periodic systems.
The position is situated in the framework of the interdisciplinary Research Training Group (RTG) "Functionalization of semiconductors". This RTG was established recently as a project of the German Science Foundation (DFG) at Philipps-Universität Marburg.
It is a collaborative project between the WZMW, the Faculty of Physics and the Faculty of Chemistry and is committed to basic and applied research in a technologically highly relevant area. It aims amongst others in the integration of III/V-semiconductors on Si-substrates. A further research emphasis is put on the understanding and application of self-assembly of novel organic functionalities on planar semiconductors as well as on nano-particles.
The successful candidate will be enabled to participate actively in the further development of the project and bring in her/his expertise on the topic. The position will enable the further development of a research portfolio for the applicant, with learning new techniques and concepts while applying the known methods to the project outlined. Our group specializes in a broad spectrum of methods for molecular and periodic quantum chemistry and focusses on questions of chemical bonding and reactivity on surfaces.
The project will involve close collaboration with experimental groups from synthetic chemistry, experimental and theoretical physics and material science at the Philipps-Universität Marburg.
