Background

The postdoctoral fellow will be part of a team of scientists and engineers from Buskerud and Vestfold University College in collaboration with University of Oslo and Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne (EPFL).

The main task is focused on basic research within the topic of advanced materials and nanotechnology, such as electrochemical engineering and characterization of nanomaterials. The postdoctoral fellow will work in the field of CO2 conversion/solar fuels through nanotechnology. The postdoctoral fellow will be expected to be able to work independently and as part of a group.

Project work

The postdoctoral fellow will be financed by a research project funded by the Norwegian Research Council FRIPRO program. His/her thesis work will be performed under the supervision of IMST faculty members. The work will include literature review, mathematical simulation, electrochemical engineering hollow nanomaterials (Al, Si, Ti), and study of their photoelectrical photocatalytic/photoelectrocatalytic properties.

Qualifications

  • A doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent) in advanced materials or nanotechnology (including MEMS/NEMS), materials science, chemistry, physics, or chemical engineering. Tracking records of scientific publications on international journals are mandatory for the successful candidate.
  • Knowledge on electrochemistry, simulation of multiphase flow/chemical reactor modelling or chemical reactor design
  • Hands-on experiences on fabrication and study of photovoltaic/photocatalytic/ photoelectrocatalytic properties of nanomaterials as well as chemical reactions on the nanomaterial surface.

Personal skills

Independent researcher with strong competence in laboratory work and good communication skills. Attention to detail, ability to work in a multidisciplinary research environment and analytical capabilities are also sought for.
