One postdoctoral position is available in a cancer research lab located within the University of North Carolina Lineberger Cancer Center. The Pecot lab focuses on implementing therapeutic RNA-interference (RNAi) with nanoparticles to target metastatic biology in lung cancer. One project will define how the miR-200 family directly inhibits tumor angiogenesis using lung adenocarcinoma models. The other project will focus on how miRNAs in lung squamous carcinomas regulate lymphangiogenesis. Our overall goal is to study mechanisms of lung cancer metastasis and translate novel RNAi therapeutics into the clinic. The Pecot lab is looking for eager, self-motivated scientists with excellent writing skills. Candidates with a strong background in miRNA biology, tissue culture, RNA and protein techniques, angiogenesis, and metastatic modeling are highly desired. The applicant must be comfortable working with laboratory mice, with a few years experience of handling mice preferred. The Lineberger Cancer Center is an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center and has one of the only Centers of Cancer Nanotechnology Excellence, thus providing a strong post-doctoral training opportunity in cancer biology and drug-development.

Qualified candidate must have a PhD or MD with a strong background in cancer biology.

We are seeking candidates who are highly motivated. Have good writing skills and career-oriented. Candidates should have a strong cancer biology background and documented expertise in western blotting, RT-PCR, immunohistochemistry and tissue culture. The candidate must also be comfortable working with laboratory mice.

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is an equal opportunity, affirmative action employer and welcomes all to apply regardless of race, color, gender, national origin, age, religion, creed, genetic information, sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression.
