The Biological Mass Spectrometry and Proteomics group at South University of Science and Technology of China (SUSTC) is focusing on developing novel proteomic methods for studying signal transduction. The scope of our research includes: large-scale characterization of post-translational modifications (e.g. phosphorylation), protein-protein interaction, protein-drug interaction, etc. Based on close collaborations with Dr. Tony Hunter at Salk Institute and Dr. Art Weiss at HHMI/UCSF, our current research focus is to characterize bi-directional, intercellular signaling in tumor microenvironment. For further information, please read our recent invited review on Proteomics: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/24214021.

The lab is well-funded and well-equipped with multiple mass spectrometers including an Orbitrap Fusion. Our analytical chemistry and biochemistry lab for sample preparation, cell culture, cloning, etc. will be in place after July. Currently, we are assembling our analytical chemistry and biochemistry teams. Two postdoc positions and two research assistant positions are immediately available. Competitive salary and benefits will be provided. Detailed hiring directions are as following:

Project I (primary): protein chemistry and signal transduction
Research topic: characterize protein-protein and protein-lipid interactions. Extensive experience for cloning, protein expression and purification, cell culture is required.

Project II: high-sensitive proteomic method development
Extensive experience for establishing nano LC-MS system and related sample preparation methods is required.

Project III: bioinformatic analysis
Research topic: proteomics data extraction and signaling pathway analysis. Extensive experience for programming by using Perl, R, etc. is required.
