A Post-Doctoral Research Associate position is available immediately in the development and application of a new transmission electron microscopy (TEM) technique that combines precession electron diffraction (PED) and electron tomography to reveal the 3D crystallography of materials. The successful applicant will use TEM to combine scanning PED, which allows the crystal orientation to be mapped in 2D, with a tomographic tilt series that enables the 3D orientation of materials to be mapped over the sample volume. The project involves elements of electron diffraction, electron tomography, image processing and 3D reconstruction techniques.

Applicants must have a strong background in electron diffraction and crystallography, be comfortable using, and perhaps developing, advanced image processing software and a working knowledge of tomography would be advantageous.
