Experimental Division

Soleil is a particle accelerator that produces synchrotron radiation, extremely powerful light source for exploring inert or living matter. This multidisciplinary tool, indispensable in the fields of research and industrial applications, welcomes more than 3,000 users per year. Financed by two principal shareholders- the CNRS and the CEA- SOLEIL holds a status of "”Public company". SOLEIL runs continuously 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with uninterrupted periods of up to 7 weeks at about 40 weeks a year. SOLEIL staff is composed of about 500 employees, all categories combined (permanent staff, PhD students, post - doctoral students, apprentices ....).

1. Post-doctoral Position - (m/f)

The CRISTAL beamline is a hard X-ray (4-30 keV) undulator-based beamline, dedicated to diffraction on powders and single crystals with state-of-the-art techniques (high-resolution, time-resolved and coherent diffraction).

The candidate will be part of a team of 4 scientists, a technician and a PhD.

2. Mission

The candidate will be involved in the coherent diffraction scientific program of CRISTAL. Different set ups are currently available on the beamline, using current methods of coherent diffraction (CXI, XPCS, ptychography). He/she will participate to all coherent diffraction experiment as a local contact, and will be more specifically in charge of the recently installed Bragg ptychography set up, using a Fresnel zone plate. On this set up he/she could develop his own in-house research in agreement with the CRISTAL team.

3. Qualifications & Experience

The candidate will hold a PhD in physics, with a solid background in diffraction and some experience in the new techniques of coherent diffraction such as ptychography. Interest in instrumentation and data analysis will be appreciated.

4. General conditions
