Post-doctoral position in Biological EM - Oxford, UK

A 3 year BBSRC funded post-doctoral position in microscopy available at Oxford Brookes as part of an ERA-CAPs consortium with Warwick, BOKU (Austria) and Bordeaux. This is to work on ER structure using tomographic TEM and a new serial block face imaging SEM plus some confocal.

  • Dear Professor,

I would like to introduce myself as Dr. J. Balamurugan, completed doctoral degree from Anna University, Chennai, India.

My Ph.D work interest lies on Solar Cells and Biosensors. In particular, synthesis of high quality carbon nanotubes (CNTs) on tailored 2D and 3D mesoporous materials and its use as a counter electrode in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). In addition, synthesized CNTs were fabricated as a sensor and it’s used as simultaneous determination of ascorbic acid, dopamine and uric acid.

Currently, I am looking for a post-doctoral position to further my research knowledge and cutting edge technology in the frontier areas. I have come across many of your research articles during the course of my doctoral work and they are very useful for me. I have also gone through your web page and learnt about the research areas on which you are working on and I found them very challenging and interesting. I strongly believe that, if I get an opportunity to work under your guidance it will be most useful for my curriculum. I am very keen to join in your research group, if you kindly consider my application for such an opening in your research group.

During my research work, I have gained hands on experience in using Solar cells work station, Electrochemical work station, Cyclic Voltammetry (CV), Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS), Photo-Current Voltage (I-V) characteristics, Differential Pulse Voltammetry (DPV),  Spin coater, FT-IR and TGA. My research work has resulted in six first author publications.
