Application deadline: 29 May 2015

A PhD position is available at the Department of Physics. The appointment has a duration of 4 years including 1 year of work-duties for NTNU NanoLab.

Job description

We seek highly motivated individuals interested in experimental nanotechnology, instrument development and transferring obtained competence to other users of the NanoLab (http://www.ntnu.no/nanolab) at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). The intention of the position is to strengthen research activities within nanostructuring and push the performance of focused ion beam (FIB). To be specific structuring by FIB should be improved in respect to the spatial resolution, reproducibility & object quality over larger areas for conventional as well as new materials such as 2D crystals. The structured surfaces will be used as substrates for positioned-controlled nanowire growth, as high-quality photonic crystals and for the realization of novel small scale prototype measuring devices and structuring tools as lithography masks & stamps. The work will be based in the NTNU NanoLab cleanroom and at the Department of Physics (https://www.ntnu.edu/physics). The candidate will work closely together with different scientific groups at NTNU who develop and apply the targeted nanostructures. Detailed information on our PhD programs is found at: http://www.ntnu.edu/nt/research/phd.
