The Laboratory for Applied Photonics Devices (http://lapd.epfl.ch/) at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) has an opening for a PhD in the field of Solar concentrators. The project is part of a funded 4-year Nano-Tera program: Solar Hydrogen Integrated Nano Electrolysis (SHINE: http://shine.epfl.ch/). The goal is to develop innovative passive tracking light concentrators.

We offer a challenging and fun work environment in collaboration with Swiss academic (EPFL /EMPA) and industrial partners (CSEM, Michelin) as part of the Nano-Tera project effort.

Requirements:
The successful applicant needs to have a solid background in optics in general and particularly in classical imaging and non imaging optics, familiarity with design software tools such as Zemax, Lightools. Laboratory experience in micro and nano fabrication and a desire to mix theory and practice.
