The “Synthetic Plant Carbohydrates” group offers a PhD-position in synthetic organic chemistry. We are part of the Department of Biomolecular Systems at the Max-Planck-Institute of Colloids and Interfaces located in Berlin-Dahlem. The department of Biomolecular Systems is a well-equipped research facility enabling multidisciplinary research collaborations in-house. The proposed project involves the synthesis of monosaccharide building blocks and their assembly into plant-related oligosaccharides using automated solid phase synthesis. The obtained products will be applied on glycan microarray-chips and used in cell-based assays. The candidate must be experienced with all techniques routinely applied in an Organic Chemistry lab. Additionally, the candidate should have a strong interest in performing biological experiments. Please submit your application to Dr. Fabian Pfrengle (Fabian.Pfrengle@mpikg.mpg.de) and include your CV, your BSc/MSc certificates, and a letter of recommen
 dation from your BSc/MSc advisor.
