Suitable Candidate

To be admitted to the 5+3 programme, applicants must fulfill the following conditions:
•They must have completed their bachelor and Master degree.
•They must have completed their Msc in the field of Biophysics or equivalent before the commencement of the Phd.

The Candidate for the PhD should hold an MSc degree in e.g. physics, biophysics or related fields. Familiarity with fluorescence based assays and microscopy is a necessary requirement, in particular in relation to Confocal and TIRF based instruments. The candidate is expected to have theoretical background and experience with data treatment and statistical analysis. Training and skills in the use of programming languages for high content analysis is a requirement, as Matlab or equivalent. Experience with mammalian cell culturing, plating, transfection and imaging as well as liposome and proteoliposome production and characterization are a strong advantage.
The candidates must work actively within an international, cross-disciplinary group of researchers: therefore strong communication and interpersonal skills are required. Excellent written and spoken English is mandatory.



Projects:

PhD Student: Using fluorescence microscopy and biophysical methods the student will characterise in living cells G protein coupled receptor ligand-binding, oligomerization and/or signalling.

The employment is in the group of Prof. Dimitrios Stamou, Department of Chemistry and the Nano-Science Center, University of Copenhagen. More information on the group can be found at http://nano.ku.dk/english/research/Nanobio/stamou_group/ The PhD positions is 3 years and will be carried out in in accordance with the agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC) on salaried scholarships. The minimum starting yearly salary is DKK 306,666.67 kr. yearly plus pension. Supplements can be added according to qualifications. Information about the PhD scholarship
The scholarship is awarded under the prerequisite that the applicant is found qualified and that the project is to be carried out in an internationally recognized and active academic environment.
It is expected that the Scholar follow recommendations and deadlines from the supervisor on writing reports and articles. The scholarship holder is obliged to carry out tasks related to lectures, exercises, laboratory exercises etc. as set by the Faculty of Natural Sciences, University of Copenhagen.
The scholarship is awarded accordingly to the regulations in The Ministry of Science, Technology and Development, Executive order no. 284, April 25th 2008 regarding the appointment of academic staff at the University.
