Ph.D position in mechanobiology

The Nanobiomechanics group at CIC nanoGUNE Research Center offers one position for PhD students to work in the area of single-molecule mechanobiology. The project will involve atomic force spectroscopy and confocal microscopy to study the mechanics of proteins from the extracellular matrix related to diseases and disorders. The study of chemical and enzymatic reactions with force will also be part of the project.

The candidate should have a degree in Biochemistry, Biology or related fields. The candidate must have experience in cellular and molecular biology. He or she must be able to work in a team, have excellent writing and communication skills in English, willing to travel and participate in conferences and meetings, giving seminars and scientific talks periodically. An excellent grade record is a plus.

The center: CIC nanoGUNE is a research center situated in San Sebastian, at the heart of the Basque Country (Spain). CIC nanoGUNE was conceived with the purpose of developing world-class research in nanosciences and nanotechnology. Over 70 scientists from 25 different countries work at nanoGUNE covering a wide range of topics in nanosciences.
