NANOIMMUNOTECH is a new European company in the nanobiotechnology sector, founded in August 2009.
NANOIMMUNOTECH core business consists in the bioconjugation of micro/nanoparticles and biomolecules aiming to massively simplify the production of conjugates that are needed for research and for biotechnological applications in different sectors (biomedical, pharmaceutics, cosmetics, veterinary, agro-food, environmental, etc) www.nanoimmunotech.eu

The candidate will report to the R&D Director and will be part of a team of experts working on the biomedical/biotechnological application of a new bioconjugation technology that allows to create different types of conjugates among biomolecules, drugs, nanoparticles, among others. The main Duties and Responsibilities of this position are:

  • Responsible for conducting research on different functionalization strategies in order to adapt different micro and nanomaterials to our bioconjugation technology.
  • Responsible for creating detailed Project Plans including scientific approaches and realistic deliverables with timelines.
  • Detailed physicochemical characterization of the functionalized materials.
  • Optimize the functionalization process in terms of reliability and cost effectiveness for a later scale-up and production.
  • Design experiments, analyze data and prepare reports for qualification, validation and troubleshooting of the functionalization strategies.
  • Takes part in the Intellectual Property strategy of the company and its implementation.

 Requirements

  • PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Polymer Science, Biochemistry, or related field with 3+ years experience.  Candidates possessing a M.S. degree in a relevant field with 8+ years experience will also be considered.
  • Hands-on experience and knowledge in data interpretation regarding relevant material characterization techniques including DLS, zeta-potential, TEM, SEM, FTIR, UV-Vis, XPS, XRD, TGA, SQUID.
  • A proven track record in surface chemistry and functionalization of micro/nano structured materials (e.g.: gold, magnetic and polymeric nanoparticles, quantum dots, carbon nanotubes, cantilevers, gold surfaces) is required.
  • Broad knowledge in protein, nucleic acid, enzyme and peptide chemistry is highly desirable.
  • Experience in the mono and multi-biofunctionalization of micro/nanomaterials with a wide variety of biomolecules including antibodies, enzymes, drugs, nucleic acids, peptides, etc.
  • Experience in the application of biofunctionalized materials in the biomedical and biotechnological field is highly desirable.
  • Experience in nanoparticle synthesis will be a plus.
  • Candidates with industrial experience will be strongly favored.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills including a track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals and the ability to create and successfully implement experimental test plans
  • Demonstrated ability to work equally well independently and as part of a larger multidisciplinary team.
  • Self-motivation and strong attention to detail to efficiently complete tasks outlined in experimental test plans within scheduled timelines to ensure timely transmission of data to other project teams.
