Start-up Contest:
For the first time at MNE, we will introduce a start-up contest in order to provide a visibility platform for young entrepreneurs offering products related to the topics of the MNE conference. We are counting on all of you to pass this message on to your research and student colleagues that are starting up a company.

Young Investigator Award:
Five (5) more days left to apply for the Young Investigator Award, to be given during MNE2014,honoring and promoting a young researcher active in the fields of Nanofabrication and Nanotechnology for Electronics, MEMS and Life Sciences. The award is given by Elsevier as part of the celebrations for the 30 years of Microelectronic Engineering Journal, an Elsevier Journal for Nanotechnology and Processing for electronics, MEMS, Energy, Life Sciences. Read more on this web page.

Program Highlights:
At the heart of MNE is the scientific program, and we have the pleasure to announce outstanding keynote speakers with the MNE 2014 fellowship recipient Prof. Dieter Kern, the astronaut and space scientist, Prof. Claude Nicolier who will take us to a journey beyond the Earth's gravity. Dr Burn Lin will present the microlectronics manufacturing research strategy at TSMC, the coordinator of the EU Flagship project Prof Jari Kinaret will share with us the latest advances with graphene, IBM's fellow Dr Stuart Parkin will tell us about the exciting field of Magnetic Nanodevices and, last but not least, Prof. Albert van den Berg will present his worldwide recognized activities in Lab-on-a-Chip.  Additionally we have 19 world-leading invited speakers, which we encourage you to discover on our website.

Short Courses:
We have reintroduced the traditional short courses that will be held on the Monday prior to the conference with a series of talks in the emerging field of fundamental and the industrial aspects of 3D nano- and micro manufacturing. We are convinced  that 3D fabrication, rapid prototyping, and additive manufacturing will become increasingly important technologies for our community since the mass customisation of device manufacturing could radically lower the cost of micro- and nanomanufacturing. This will be a unique opportunity to have the full overview of this new field in one day and to understand the benefits for your own R&D and business activities. [ short courses link ]

Accommodation:
Due to other conflicting events in the Lausanne area during MNE 2014, we expect that hotels will fill up quite quickly. If you have already decided to come to MNE 2014 then we strongly advise you to book your hotel as soon as possible! Please see our accommodation page for a selection of hotels to fit every budget. Social events:
We will also have a great social event with an apéro-cruise on lake of Geneva allowing you to enjoy the late afternoon sun-set against the spectacular landscape formed by the Alps, the stunning autumn colours of the world heritage vineyards and the charms of Lausanne city.   Details will follow shortly.

MNE's success is first and foremost a result of its great community, and we hope we can count on you to join us in Lausanne to make MNE 2014 an unforgettable event.
