At TU Dresden, Faculty of Mechanical Science and Engineering,
Institute of Materials Science, the Chair of Materials Science and
Nanotechnology (Prof. G. Cuniberti), is open to work on the molecular
dynamics simulation of large-scale systems the position of a

Member of academic staff / Research Group leader (up to E 14 TV-L)

The position will start on 15th September 2014 and is initially limited for 3
years with possibility of extension. The period of employment is governed
by the Fixed Term Research Contracts Act
(

Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz - WissZeitVG).
The scientific focus of the Chair of Materials Science and Nanotechnology
lies on developing novel materials and devices with intrinsic nanoscale
complexity. Materials simulation is a major pillar in these research efforts.
The activities of the successful candidate will be strongly integrated in the
newly established Dresden Center for Computational Materials Science
(DCCMS) which bundles the activities of more than 20 groups of TU
Dresden and various research centres in Dresden to one of the leading
hubs of computational materials research worldwide.
Task: The successful candidate will head a research group dealing with
heavy molecular dynamics (MD) simulation of large-scale systems like
biologically inspired structures and the development of scale-bridging
methods for MD investigations. The tasks will include the supervision of
Ph.D., Master and Diploma students, the management of cooperation with
internal and external academic and industrial partners, the acquisition of
third party grants and the assistance in the teaching activities of the chair.
The candidate is encouraged to pursue her/his habilitation at our chair.

people with disabilities.
Applicants should send their complete application documents, including a
letter of motivation, an extended research statement (2 pages, taking into
account the research environment at the Chair of Materials Science and
Nanotechnology as well as at TU Dresden and in the scientific and
industrial environment in Dresden and Saxony), Curriculum Vitae with the
complete publication record in the form of a Researcher ID link and at least
two reference letters until 15.07.2014 (stamped arrival date of the
university central mail service applies) to: TU Dresden, Fakultaet
Maschinenwesen, Institut fuer Werkstoffwissenschaft, Professur fuer
