At the Faculty of Mechanical Science and Engineering, Institute
of Materials Science, Chair of Materials Science and
Nanotechnology, is open to work on the development of novel
concepts for the application in medical technologies the
position of a

          Member of academic staff and Group leader

The position will start on 1st July 2012 and is initially for 3
years, with possibility of extension. The period of employment
is governed by the Fixed Term Research Contracts Act
(

Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz - WissZeitVG). Payment is
according to the nationally agreed scale TV-L, up to salary
grade E14 according to qualification.
The scientific activities of the Chair of Materials Science and
Nanotechnology (Prof. G. Cuniberti), are focused on developing
non conventional strategies for novel materials and devices with
intrinsic nanoscale complexity. Biological complexity suggests
optimal routes for the design of bottom-up advanced materials.
Tasks: The successful candidate will head a research group
focused on the development and implementation of novel sensor
concepts for medical and health technologies at the Max Bergmann
Center of Biomaterials Dresden. The task will include the review
of the scientific progress of the research group, the management
of the cooperation with internal and external academic and
industrial partners, the acquisition of third party grants and
the assistance in the teaching activities of the chair. The
candidate is encouraged to pursue her/his habilitation at our
chair.
Requirements: academic doctorate in Science or Engineering.
Previous knowledge in molecular biochemistry, surface chemistry
and experience in bioelectronics are considered as preferential.

with excellent communication and writing skills in English who
plans to make her/his mark in science.
