Master thesis position on protein engineering of sortases

Sortases catalyze transpeptidation reactions and are able to ligate site specifically proteins with modified peptides. Therefore sortases are of a high biotechnological interest and value. In the master project the student will establish together with a PhD student and a PostDoc a sortase assay enabling the high throughput analysis of sortases for the directed evolution of sortase variants.
Working place of the student is the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland in Basle in the group of Prof. Dr. Georg Lipps. The project is funded by the CTI and is a collaboration with an industrial partner. Basle is located in the vivid trinational region (Switzerland, Germany, and France) in a beautiful landscape.
We apply numerous techniques and experimental approaches: molecular biology, protein purification, enzyme assays, HPLC, liquid handling, microfluidics and fluorescence spectroscopy. Hands-on experiences with some of these methods are a plus.
Please send your application (CV, copies of certificates, overview of your studies) in a single pdf file by February 31. Please include a pdf-file of your bachelor thesis. Looking forward to your application!
