  • Healthcare

IPhEB 2012 St. Petersburg International Forum provides a perfect discussion platform for an open and direct dialogue between the sector’s experts and representatives of the relevant government agencies, contributing to substantive experience and opinion exchange. The event’s high level and expertise were demonstrated in 2011 when IPhEB St. Petersburg International Forum was held by RESTEC® Exhibition Company – with the assistance of St. Petersburg Government – for the first time: last year over 800 Russian and foreign specialists and professionals participated in it. As a result, the Forum’s guests found the meeting substantive and truly remarkable. For instance, Vadim Vlasov, President of NOVARTIS in Russia, pointed out: “Many persons authorised to make decisions - and those who are interesting to talk to - have come to the Forum…  St. Petersburg Forum – is the industry focused platform, and I think it is very important that this tone was set from the very beginning“. According to Mikhail Oseevskiy, the then Vice Governor of St. Petersburg and the current Deputy Minister of Economic Development, in spite of the fact that the Forum was a “debut” for St. Petersburg, it was a “success”.

The Organising Committee is confident that the positive results of IPhEB 2012 will consolidate and exceed the success attained. This year the Forum is held with the support of Russia’s Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the North-Western Federal District, and St. Petersburg Government.

The events included in the Forum agenda are to be held at Nikolaevsky Palace. The following theme sessions are stipulated:

  • Conditions and prospects for development of medicine, pharmacy and biotechnologies

The IPhEB Exhibition of medical, pharmaceutical and laboratory equipment at Manege Central Exhibition Hall - that is to be held within the Forum framework - features sections of particular interest to the industry experts as well: Production equipment; Medical equipment; Medical devices; Medicines and  secondary medical products, Laboratory equipment and laboratory medicine; Equipment and products for  healthcare facilities; Contracted works; Information technologies if the fields of pharmacy and medicine. All the sections mentioned will provide the latest achievements, products and services in their respective areas. Companies forms India, Italy, the Czech Republic and Switzerland have already confirmed their participation in the Exhibition. The partner country of IPhEB 2012 is India. Correspondingly, India’s delegation, headed by such esteemed branch bodies as Pharmexil and EEPC, is to be of particular interest. Especially due to the current status of India - one of the global pharma leaders in general and a prospective research and business partner of Russia in particular.

The Indian experts participated in IPhEB 2011 already: and their feedback was very positive. For instance, Dr. Reddy from Omni Media Technology praised the Forum and expressed his confidence that it would become a significant event for the whole world of pharmacy. Dr. Appaji from Pharmaceutical Export Promotion Council rated the event high as well. He remarked that Russia at the moment is behindhand in terms of pharma industry development in comparison with India. At the same time he assured that Russia was capable of attaining goals set by the 2020 Strategy: the main thing needed for this is keeping up the pace.

The event promises a wide variety of opportunities for establishing new and productive business links – as well as for making acquaintance with the recent industry trends. It ensures the most prompt and convenient conditions for scrutinizing Russia’s growing and promising domestic pharma market and St. Petersburg emerging pharma cluster in the initial stage of its formation. Thus, according to Russian-American Business magazine, the size of Russia’s pharmaceutical market in 2010 was 8,6 bln. USD – which meant a 17% expansion. Experts anticipate that the value of the market will be over 22 bln. in 2016 with an average annual growth rate of approximately 20%. St. Petersburg will by all means play a prominent role in terms of market growth since the basis of the city pharma cluster has already been established. Among the priority industry sites one could point out, for instance, Pushkin industrial zone – as well as a section of Noidorf special economic zone and Novo-Orlovskoe. All the three directions suppose strategic investing by the world leaders and construction of manufacturing and R&D facilities, business incubators and centers.

IPhEB Forum – the key St. Petersburg event the field of pharmacy and medicine organised in compliance with the highest world standards and aimed at increasing business performance, broadening R&D horizons, and deepening professional expertise!
