The International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory, an international research organization (http://www.inl.int), is seeking a strongly motivated food scientist wishing to lead a research group working on leading-edge applications of Nanotechnologies to the food sector.
Topics of interest include (non-exclusive list), nanoscale-based sensing mechanisms and devices for reliable and rapid detection of biomarkers, smart labels for food packaging and in particular design and fabrication of indicators for food quality and safety and control (freshness, ripeness, smell, taste, oxygen or spoilage), nanostructure- nanosensor based methodologies for water quality control. Other key goals are nanoscale biofilms for food packaging and contact materials that extend shelf life, retain quality and reduce cooling requirements. The researcher will collaborate with teams at INL developing chemical and bio‐functionalized nanostructures, and teams developing electronically based sensors on various substrates.

Job Requirements and Key responsibilities.

Applicants are expected to have an outstanding international research track record in one or several fields that are relevant in the current fields of research in nanotechnologies applied to food.
We are looking for an established researcher (typical 4~10 years of active research after PhD) and have developed a level of independence in their research areas. The successful applicant will have to build a high-performance research group, which will be competitive and renowned at international level, in the area of nanotechnology applications in the food industry.

Applicants are also expected to be competitive and have demonstrated results in obtaining external research funding and fellowship support. Capability on establishing collaborative ties with distinguished academic groups and food industry stakeholders will be an asset.

What we offer

• Tenure track with initial appointment for 4 years (depending on researcher profile, a tenure position may be considered).
• Starting funds for capital equipment and recruiting research personnel to establish and direct an independent research program.
• Access to state-of-the-art equipment and facilities.
• Highly competitive multidisciplinary research environment.
• Competitive compensation package in line with those offered by other international research organizations. Researchers will also benefit from the various social facilities available at INL.

Application
