Gerhard Klimeck’s work ranks among Discover Magazine's top 100 discoveries for 2012

The work of an international team of researchers led by Gerhard Klimeck, professor of electrical and computer engineering at Purdue University, and Michelle Simmons, professor of physics at the University of New South Wales, is ranked #29 on Discover Magazine’s top 100 discoveries for 2012. The team created the smallest transistor ever built – in fact, the smallest transistor that can be built – the single-atom transistor. Klimeck led the Purdue group that ran simulations for the research. He is director of the Network for Computational Nanotechnology, which operates nanoHUB.org from Discovery Park.
