Experienced Researcher - Iasi, Romania

We offer an Experienced Researcher position in our Department to pursue research on Using Magnetic Materials in Medical Applications and their Biocompatibility within the framework of the European project (FP7-REGPOT) entitled "Upgrading the capacity of NIRDTP to develop sensing applications for biomedicine using magnetic nanomaterials and nanostructured materials - NANOSENS". The contract will have an initial duration of 12 months and maybe renewed until May 31, 2016 based on continued grant funding and mutual satisfaction. The gross salary is negotiable between 30,000 and 48,000 €/year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Description

Specifically, the research will focus on the use of various magnetic materials prepared at NIRDTP (nano- and microwires, nanostructured materials, nanoparticles, multilayered nanowires, etc.) in medical applications and on their biocompatibility, including the development of sensing applications based on them. There is also expected participation in increasing the level of expertise achieved with the new and existing equipment. The candidate should hold a PhD in Physics, or other discipline particularly relevant to the challenges of the envisaged tasks (e.g., Bioengineering, Materials Science). Especially advantageous would be previous experience in: - the development of new nanomaterials and nanostructured magnetic materials; - the development of new medical sensors and transducers based on multifunctional materials; - the development of new techniques and complex equipment for state-of-the-art and beyond state-of-the-art biomedical applications; - the characterization of novel magnetic materials using state-of-the-art characterization methods and equipment (e.g., electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy, XRD, magnetometry, etc.). Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team are expected. The National Institute of Research and Development for Technical Physics is an exciting place to work. This is an excellent and unique opportunity to further establish your research career. Potential candidates should send by email before February 28, 2014 a CV, a cover letter, and a Statement of Research Accomplishments, Interests and Future Plans to: Dr. Nicoleta Lupu, National Institute of Research and Development for Technical Physics, 47 Mangeron Boulevard, 700050 Iasi, Romania, email: nicole@phys-iasi.ro
