Doctoral Student Position in Materials Science

A Doctoral Student position in the field of Biomimetic Materials Science is open at Aalto University at the Department of Materials Science and Technology (Prof. Päivi Laaksonen). The laboratory is situated on the Aalto University main Campus at Otaniemi together with the closest collaborators Department of Biotechnology and Chemical Technology, the Department of Applied Physics and VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland.

We are looking for an ambitious open-minded person and offer an inspiring multidisciplinary research environment for conducting research and doctoral studies. Salary is based on the university salary scheme.

The position is situated within the Finnish Academy Center of Excellence (CoE) on Molecular Engineering of Biosynthetic Hybrid Materials (2014-2019) headed by Academy Professor Olli Ikkala. Other major partners include the groups of Prof. Markus Linder (Biomolecular Materials), Prof. Janne Laine (Forest Products Surface Chemistry) and Prof. Merja Penttilä (VTT Biotechnology). CoEs are the flagships of Finnish research.

As a successful applicant you should be highly motivated in experimental science and have a background in chemistry, materials science, biochemistry, physics or a closely related field.
