  • This is extremely interesting, but nucleic acids should not be used for bio/nano/bio/technology:

    That has, as a retired organic chemist friend of says, the Law of Unintended Consequences written all over it.

    Artificial mechanomers (functional copolymers) of classes and using monomers not found in nature but whose behavior is carefully selected to mimic that of the nucleic acids should be used instead.

    Still, this was an intriguing report, and the work being done is precedent for similar work with other and safer classes of mechanomers.
