With the capability of ameliorating many of today's products material properties and characteristics, particularly across the polymer composites, coatings, lubricants, batteries and electronic industry to name a few, this company is pioneering positive change in the sphere of nanotechnology and advanced materials.

Based in the North East of the UK and supported by commercial funding, our client is undergoing a period of major growth and are now hiring for several senior positions within their offices in the Cleveland area.

Having patented their unique manufacturing process they are now moving from R&D into full production, marketing and sales of their product, both within the UK and overseas, and expect to see the company triple in size this year based on committed and projected orders.

The Application Scientist will work with a high degree of autonomy and dedication and will be expected to grow with the company and become a major contributor for the processing of graphene and the formulation of graphene dispersions.

As the Application Scientist your main responsibilities will be:
~Identify and liaise with potential commercial and R&D partners
~Development of new formulations
~Development of new applications
~Working closely with the Process Engineering team to integrate large-scale production and processing of graphene

The ideal Applications Scientist will have at least a degree (or equivalent) in Chemistry or related subject, preferably PhD and have extensive industrial experience. They must have an understanding of nano-materials, nano-fillers, additives and nanodispersion, and how these can be applied to enhance the properties of new materials and products. Specific knowledge of graphene would be a bonus, but it is not a strict requirement. Hands on experience of formulation chemistry would be a major advantage. It is essential for the candidate to have a background in the films, paints and coatings industry or the lubricants and functional/thermal fluids industry.

A dynamic, proactive and creative attitude to problem solving and coming up with new material and application concepts, as well as an ability to multitask and be react rapidly to commercial opportunities, would be very beneficial in the context of a start-up work environment,
