Atomic Force Microscopy Webinar Series Measuring Absolute Values of Modulus of Elasticity for Webinar Date & Time Wednesday, December 19, 2012 |
Presenters: ![]() Igor Sokolov, Ph.D. Professor Clarkson University ![]() Bede Pittenger, Ph.D. Senior Applications Scientist Bruker Nano Surfaces |
Webinar Overview This one-hour webinar will investigate the advantages and use of atomic force microscopes (AFMs) when studying mechanics of soft materials. We will describe AFM methods to obtain absolute values of elastic modulus. We will demonstrate using polystyrene and polyurethane polymers that the bulk moduli of elasticity (the Young’s modulus) can be measured starting from indentations of as small as 2-3 nm. This can be done when using either Force Volume or PeakForce QNM modes, allowing access to mechanical property mapping over a wide range of deformation timescales. The live broadcast will include a fully interactive Q&A session to answer all of your applications questions. Register today to reserve your seat. Welcome! Nanopaprika was cooked up by Hungarian chemistry PhD student in 2007. The main idea was to create something more personal than the other nano networks already on the Internet. Community is open to everyone from post-doctorial researchers and professors to students everywhere.
There is only one important assumption: you have to be interested in nano!
