A nanotechnológiai kutatás veszélyei – és a FBI (in Hungarian)
A Nanomedicine folyóiratban tették közzé az FBI szervezte workshop eredményét a nanotechnológiai kutatás ‘kétélű voltáról’.
„A nanotechnológiában, biotechnológiában gyors egymásutánban bekövetkező áttörések nagyon ígéretesek az orvosi diagnosztika és kezelés szempontjából” – nyilatkozta Kathleen Eggleson (Notre Dame Center for Nano Science). „Azonban a visszaélés kockázata minden egyes áttöréssel együtt növekszik – a potenciális haszonnal együtt. Ez a lényege a ‘kétélűség’ dilemmájának.”
A beszámoló megvizsgálja, milyen következményei vannak annak, ha a nano-méretű részecskék áttörik a vér-agy gátat. Néhányan az idegtudósok közül már célzottan arra készítettek fel nanorészecskéket, hogy átjussanak a vér-agy gáton, a gyógyszert célzottan és ellenőrzött módon közvetlenül az agy beteg részéhez juttassák el.
