2 POST-DOCTORAL POSITIONS IN PROJECT NFFA

The Institute of Electronic Structure and Laser (IESL) of the Foundation for research and Technology Hellas (FORTH), in the frame of the project NFFA, funded under H202-E.U.1.4.1.2, is seeking to recruit two (2) post-doctoral researchers.

Position 1
Laser Fabrication of 3D hierarchical micro/nano scaffolds supporting protein adhesion and cell proliferation.
 
The purpose of the project is the laser-based development of 3D hierarchical micro/nano scaffolds in order to selectively immobilize specific proteins and to support cell proliferation (while mimimizing non-specific protein adsorption).
 
Required qualifications for position 1
  • Ph.D. from an acknowledged institute in Greece or internationally in fields that are related to the job description, e.g, biological/biomaterials sciences
  • Experience in cell culture techniques
  • Experience in laser fabrication of cell culture scaffolds
  • Scientific Publications related to the topic of the position
 
Desirable qualifications for position 1
  • A Masters in a related field, e.g,. Biomedical Enginnering/Biomaterials
  • A relevant background in laser processing of materials
  • A relevant background in evaluation of morphological material properties
  • Successful candidates must be highly motivated, have passion for research and be able to work in an interdisciplinary environment.
 
Location: IESL-FORTH, Heraklion Crete GREECE
Start Date: 1st of October 2015
Project Duration: 3 Months with possibility of extension according to the needs of the project
 
 
 
Position 2
Development of hydrogel-based scaffolds for tissue engineering.
 
The purpose of the project is the development of soft polymeric hydrogel-based scaffolds with embedded protein nanoparticles and/or natural biomolecules. The scaffolds will be characterized and tested in terms of cellular growth and compatibility, using different cell lines, including stem cells.
 
Required qualifications for position 2
  • PhD in the field of Biomaterials/tissue Engineering
  • Experience in cells and stem cells cultures
  • Experience in natural and synthetic hydrogels
  • Publications related to the Job Description and presentations in conferences
 
Desirable qualifications for position 2
  • Bachelor in Materials or Biological Sciences
  • Master in Biomaterials or Tissue Engineering
  • Excellent knowledge of English (competence in speaking and writing)
 
Location: IESL-FORTH, Heraklion Crete GREECE
Start Date: 1st of October 2015
Project Duration: 6 Months with possibility of extension according to the needs of the project
