Keep up with TINC from your iPhone

The International NanoScience Community (TINC)
comes with an iPhone interface, which is great when you want to keep up with your social network when not at your computer. Using this interface, members with iPhones can access a simplified version of TINC that looks great, matches your social network’s colors and loads quickly, even on a 2G iPhone.

To access the iPhone interface, you simply need to add /m to the URL of your… Continue

Postdoctoral Fellow: Single Molecule Force Spectroscopy

A postdoctoral position in single molecule biophysics is available in the

Messersmith group at Northwestern University. The overall goals of the

research are to elucidate the molecular details of mussel adhesive protein

adhesion (for example, see PNAS 2006, 103, 12999). We seek self-motivated

individuals interested in a stimulating and interdisciplinary research

environment where fundamental biophysics experiments inform the… Continue

Aircraft Cowlings and Wings of Carbon Nano Tube Transparent Sheets - By Lance Winslow

By Lance Winslow

Every pilot knows that the most important part of any flight is the pre-flight inspection. If you are going to cruise at high speeds thousands of feet in the air you want to make sure that your aircraft is indeed airworthy and will not fall apart. If it does, you cannot simply pull over and call AAA and it is a long way down.

It is hard to inspect all parts of the aircraft, for instance the engine compartment,… Continue

The Future of Truck Tires - New Materials - By Lance Winslow

By Lance Winslow

No one can deny that one of the most problematic issues or pieces of equipment for Modern Day Trucks are the tires. In fact something really needs to be done. All too often the Truckers suffer from breakdowns due to blow outs, stuck on the side of the road for hours - sometimes in very dangerous places too.

"One major problem with trucks are the tires!"

Indeed this was one of the opening statements… Continue

Carbon Nano-Tube Construction For US Mail Boxes Needed - By Lance Winslow

By Lance Winslow

When I was young the juvenile delinquents at our school would take baseball bats and their cars and go mail box smashing. Interestingly, enough our more intelligent neighbors got sick and tired of replacing their mailboxes and thus, would make them into brick fortresses. As I grew up, I noticed that this still goes on today and my parents said that the same thing happened when they were kids.

Of course,… Continue

American Chemical Society National Meeting, Nanoscience: Challenges for the Future

As I pack up to leave Salt Lake City and the 237th American Chemical Society meeting, I wanted to reflect on some of the comments about the future of nanotechnology and nanoeducation.

From the education sessions, it seems clear that K-12 teachers are taking bits and pieces of activities that have been developed through NNI funding. It has to "fit" into their curriculum and that means that it is only adapted if the teachers find it easy to use and it supports and augments the content… Continue

Welcome - about us

Welcome! Nanopaprika was cooked up by Hungarian chemistry PhD student in 2007. The main idea was to create something more personal than the other nano networks already on the Internet. Community is open to everyone from post-doctorial researchers and professors to students everywhere.

There is only one important assumption: you have to be interested in nano!

Nanopaprika is always looking for new partners, if you have any idea, contact me at editor@nanopaprika.eu
