I am happy to know about this group. Phytosynthesis of nanoparticles is one of the emerging areas, wherein plant extracts are used to synthesize nanoparticles. Polysacchrides, alkaloids, flavanoids and other such compounds present in the plant extract are speculated to be the possible reducing agents for the synthesis of silver nanoparticles. My query is is there any specific criteria for telling a compound like alkaloids, flavanoids, pigments, sugars etc to be possible reducing agents for nanoparticle synthesis just by looking into the molecular structure of the compound? I will be very glad if any could enlighten about this query.
