The purpose of this work was to obtained nanocrystalline sample of yttrium aluminum borate (YAB) doped with rare earth (RE) and transition (TM) metals, development technology deagglomeration and separation of nanoparticles. The borate crystals such as: YAl3(BO3)4, are transparent from UV to IR range. Doping them with active ions gives the possibility to obtain different spectra characteristics. Borates are used in tunable laser applications. YAB a non-linear optical crystal with excellent properties for infrared laser emission under diode pumping as well as for self- frequency doubling laser. One promising way to enhance nonlinear optical properties of YAB is to form the composites containing YAB crystallites embedded into polymer matrices. YAB was prepared by sol-gel method. This method is useful in producing numerous nanocrystaline materials for optoelectronic application.

In order to characteristic properties of YAB nanocrystals We used Scanning Electron Microscope and Atomic Forces M to study the particles grain size and morphology, spectrofotometer to observed absorption of light, laser system to study a nonlinear optical properties and X-ray diffraction method  to phase identification.
