DESCRIPTION:In 2012, Denmark and Belgium followed France’s example a
 nd started the development of a national regulation mandating the repo
 rting of nanomaterials and/or products containing nanomaterials. Meanw
 hile other European Member States have repeatedly urged the European C
 ommission to implement measures for the reporting and market surveilla
 nce of nanomaterials on the European level.\n The nanotechnology indus
 tries are faced with a large burden in complying with the mandatory re
 porting requirements, but many questions still remain:\n - Who will ha
 ve access to the information submitted under the respective reporting 
 schemes?\n - How will the information be used and protected?\n -How ca
 n data be submitted efficiently to more than one reporting scheme?\n -
 What are consequences of reporting a nanomaterial?\n - What measuremen
 t methods should be used to reliably show that a material is not a nan
